Rei means "spirit" or "ghost" in Japanese.

I was enamored by Japanese traditional and pop-culture when I was a teenager and young adult. From Japanese video games, film, comics, anime and philosophy, I was enchanted. This album is an homage to that romanticization, using Japanese instrumentation, nu-jazz and trip-hop beats, and lots of imagination.

This eclectic album, spanning many moods. takes stylistic cues from Shoji Yamashiro (composer of the Akira soundtrack), nu-jazz master Bonobo, and my own creative spirit.
